Plug 'n Power Security (610-2611) Battery Faxback Doc. # 16049 System REMOTE CONTROL After replacing the battery in the remote control, the following steps are necessary to determine that the base receiver still recognizes the remote control. 1. Place the INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to RUN 2. 2. Press [ARM] on the remote control. If the system arms, the base receiver recognized the remote control and no further action is necessary. If the system did not arm: 1. Place the INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to INSTALL. 2. Press [ARM] on the remote control. The remote control transmits a random code to the base receiver. The base receiver acknowledges this with a beep and logs in the remote control. If you do not hear a beep, or if the remote control's red light stays on, press [CODE] with a pencil and then press [ARM]. DOOR/WINDOW SENSORS If any of the base receiver's zone lights flash slowly, the door/window sensor for that zone has not reported in during the last 4 hours. This is most likely caused by a dead battery in the door/window sensor. When you installed the system, you numbered each door/window sensor to correspond to a particular zone indicator, this should make it easy to determine which sensor has the problem. After replacing the battery in the door/window sensor, the following steps are necessary to determine that the base receiver still recognizes the sensor. 1. Place the INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to RUN 2. 2. Press [TEST] on the sensor. If the base receiver chimes, it recognized the sensor and no further action is necessary. If you did not hear a chime when you pressed [TEST]: 1. Place the INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to INSTALL. 2. Press [TEST]. The door/window sensor transmits a code to the base receiver. The base receiver acknowledges this with a beep and logs in the code. If you do not hear a beep, or if the sensor's red light stays on, press [CODE] with a pencil and then press [TEST]. If the door/window sensor had not reported in for at least 4 hours (as is the case if its zone indicator on the base receiver was flashing), the door/window sensor is logged into the SAME zone number as it was before you replaced the battery. If you replaced the battery in the door/window sensor when its zone light was NOT flashing, the door/window sensor is logged into the next sequential zone (instead of the same zone as it was). To avoid this, remove the old battery and wait at least 4 hours before installing the new battery. This ensures that the sensor is logged into its original zone number. If you do not hear a beep when you install the sensor, it is still installed. To check this: 1. Place the INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to RUN 2. 2. Press [TEST] on the sensor. If the base receiver chimes, the sensor is still installed and no further action is necessary. BASE RECEIVER If you unplug the base receiver and replace the battery, you lose all memory of the installed door/window sensors and remote controls. You then have to set the INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to INSTALL/RUN switch on the base receiver to INSTALL and re-install all the door/window sensors and remote controls. To avoid this, replace the battery without unplugging the base receiver. You do not lose any stored codes and do not have to re-install your system. A 9V alkaline battery will provide at least 12 hours of back-up. You should replace the battery at least once a year. (br/all-07/21/95)
