Access Code - The code you use to arm and disarm the base and to enter accessories into the base. Arm and Disarm - Terms for on and off. When you arm the system, you turn on protection. Disarming the system turns off protection. Away Mode - The armed mode of the system when all sensors are armed. Base - The main control panel for the system. Bypass - Term for temporarily removing a zone from operation. Door/Window Transmitter - The remote component that monitors a connected sensor and sends a signal to the base if the sensor detects a violation. Fire Zone - The area protected by a smoke alarm siren detector. Home Mode - The armed mode of the system when only the door/window transmitters are armed. In this mode, the system bypasses all motion sensors so you can move around the house without tripping the alarm. Interior Sensors - The sensors within the home, such as motion detectors and glass breakage detectors. Perimeter Sensors - The outside group of sensors in the system. Normally, this includes all door/window sensors. The system includes two perimeter sensors. Remote Control - The device that lets you arm and disarm the system away from the base. Sensor - The component connected to the door/window transmitter. When the sensor detects a violation, its transmitter signals the base. Violation - An alarm condition, such as that caused by an opened door or window, detected by the sensor. Zone - The area protected by a door/window transmitter, a motion detector, or other sensing/transmitting device.
