Digital Keypad (490-0452) Operation Faxback Doc. # 17355 49-451 2-ZONE SECURITY SYSTEM Setting the Security Code The 49-451 security system lets you store one security code. Follow these steps to set your own personal security code. 1. Disarm the alarm system. The keypad's red ARM indicator turns off. The loop indicator should be lit (no zones violated). 2. Hold down the * key for 2 seconds. The keypad's LOOP indicator flashes slowly. 3. Enter the current four-digit personal security code. (If this is the first time you have turned on the system, the security code is the system's default code.) The keypad's LOOP indicator turns off. 4. Enter the new four-digit security code. The LOOP indicator turns on. NOTES: If you take longer than 30 seconds to complete Step 3 or 4, the keypad automatically resets to the old code. Begin again from Step 2. If other keypads are installed, the alarm system does not respond to any keys from these keypads for 10 seconds after the last key press on the new keypad. Arming/Disarming the Alarm To arm the system, enter your code. The keypad's ARM indicator lights. To disarm the system, enter your code. The ARM indicator turns off. NOTE: If you enter the wrong security code three times in a row, the system will lock out all keypads for 1 minute. 49-485 8-ZONE SECURITY SYSTEM Setting the Security Code The 49-485 security system lets you store 1 master code which is used to arm and disarm the system and access all programming functions, and 7 user codes which are used for arming and disarming the system only. (Refer to your 49-485 security system owner's manual for more information.) Follow these steps to set the master code and user codes. 1. Disarm the alarm system. The keypad's red ARM indicator is off. Loop indicator should be lit (no zones violated). 2. Hold down the * key for 2 seconds. The keypad's LOOP indicator flashes slowly. 3. Enter the current four-digit master code. (If this is the first time you have turned on the system, the current code is 1 2 3 4.) The LOOP indicator turns off. 4. Press 1 to program a new master code, or 2-8 to program a user code. 5. Enter the new four-digit security code. 6. Enter the new code again to verify. 7. To continue entering codes, repeat Steps 4-6. 8. Press # to save the security codes. The LOOP indicator turns on. NOTES: If you take longer than 30 seconds to complete Step 3, 4, 5, or 6, the keypad automatically resets to the old code. Begin again from Step 2. If other keypads are installed, the alarm system does not respond to any keys from these keypads for 10 seconds after the last key press on the new keypad. Arming/Disarming the Alarm System The 49-485 security system arms in either the home or away mode. (See your alarm system manual for more information about the home and away modes.) To arm the system in the away mode, enter the master code or a user code. The keypad's ARM indicator flashes. After all zones arm, the ARM indicator stops flashing and lights steadily. To arm the system in the home mode 1. Enter the master code or a user code. The ARM indicator flashes. 2. Immediately press the * key. The ARM indicator is on, and the system arms in the home mode. To disarm the system, enter the master code or a user code. The ARM indicator turns off. NOTES: If you enter the wrong security code three times in a row, the system locks out all keypads for 5 minutes. This discourages unauthorized persons from entering random codes. If any panic or instant zones are violated when you try to arm the system, the system does not arm. Correct the faulted zones and try again.
