Invisible Beam Entry Alert (490-0316) Operation Faxback Doc. # 18318 USING THE ENTRY ALERT To operate the Entry Alert, loosen the screw on the door at the right side of the main unit and open the door to expose the sensitivity and mode switches. Set the mode switch to ALARM or CHIME. When the beam is interrupted in the ALARM mode, the external alarm sounds (or another external device is activated) until the path of the beam is restored. To silence the alarm sooner, set the mode switch to TEST/OFF. When the beam is interrupted in the CHIME mode, the built in chime sounds two tones and the LED counter display advances by one digit. The chime sounds until the path of the beam is restored. The counter displays up to 999. To clear the counter and reset it to 000, press COUNTER RESET. The counter's display turns off when you set the mode switch to ALARM, but the counter still operates. To view the number of beam interruptions, set the mode switch to CHIME. Close the door and tighten the screw to secure it. TESTING THE BACKUP BATTERY 1. Set the mode switch to ALARM or CHIME. 2. Unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet. 3. Interrupt the beam by walking between the main unit and the reflector. The build-in chime sounds two tones and the LED counter display advances by one digit, or the external alarm, dialer, or alarm system is activated. 4. To conserve battery power, set the mode switch to TEST/OFF as soon as you confirm proper operation. 5. Reconnect the AC adapter. (CS 10/23/95)
