Lighthouse For Windows (610-2617W) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 19271 CONCEPTS AND TERMINOLOGY. One of the first things you should do is read through the on-line help section entitled "Concepts and Terminology". Once in Lighthouse, you can find this section by clicking the work Help in the main menu bar and then selecting "Table of Contents" from the pull down menu that appears. From the table of contents you can then select "Concepts and Terminology. SAMPLE DATABASE. After reading through "Concepts and Terminology", spend some time playing with the Lighthouse sample database. You can open the sample database by clicking on the word File in the main menu bar and then selecting "Open sample" from the pull down menu that appears. This will give you an opportunity to study a typical database and play with various Lighthouse functions before creating a database yourself. CONFIGURING A SERIAL PORT. If your Plug'N Power Home Control Interface is "not" connected to the COM 2 port, you need to define which port is being used. To do so, click on the word File in the main menu bar and then select "Preferences" from the pull down menu that appears. You can then define a different port from the drop down box that appears at the top of the Preferences dialog box. INITIALIZING YOU PLUG'N POWER HOME CONTROL INTERFACE. Once you have selected a port to use with the Plug'N Power controller, you need to initialize it. To do so, click on the word Controller in the main menu bar and then select "Set clock" from the pull down menu that appears. This sets the controller's internal clock to the same time as the system clock inside your computer. You can verify that the clock has been set correctly by running the "Get status" command - also available from the Controller menu. USING LIGHTHOUSE FOR WINDOWS Using Lighthouse for Windows software consists mainly of the following: 1. Determining a plan for using Plug'N Power modules in your home. 2. Writing this plan down. 3. Converting this plan into module, scene, schedule, and event information. 4. Entering this information into the program. 5. Loading the appropriate parts of the information into the Home Controller Interface. These are further explained in "Planning for Module Use", Faxback Doc.# and "Entering Information", Faxback Doc.# . (CS 1/4/96)
