3-Prong Universal Appliance Switch (610-2684A) Addendum Faxback Doc. # 19292 1/3 HP for motor loads. Sufficient to handle the motor load in appliances, such as portable fans and window air conditioners. 500 Watts for lamps. Although the Appliance Module is rated for 1800 Watts for resistive loads, it is limited to 500 Watts for incandescent lamps, because of the "inrush" current when you turn on a cold lamp. This momentary inrush of current can be up to 6 times higher than the normal operating load. The Appliance Module can be used for any kind of lamp including fluorescent lamps but cannot dim lamps. The Appliance Module does NOT respond to the "All Lights On" but does respond to the All Units Off code. The Appliance Module's "local control" feature lets you, at any time, turn on the Appliance Module simply by turning the appliance's power switch off then on again. You must always leave the power switch in the on position to control the Appliance Module remotely, but this handy local "on" feature means you don't have to always go to where the Controller is located to turn the lamp or appliance on. This feature does not work with "instant on" or remote controlled TVs. (CS 1/18/96)
