PG-80 8-Channel Digital Paging System (490-0710) Operation Faxback Doc. # 19432 Identification Coding Before your PG-80 system is ready for use, you must program it with the identification code and paging numbers. The identification code becomes unique to your system and ensures that the receivers will ignore all other signals. 1. Check if the STORE indicator on the transmitter is blinking. The blinking of the STORE indicator means that no identification code is in the transmitter's memory. 2. If the STORE indicator is not blinking, press the RESET switch on the back with the tip of a ballpoint pen. The STORE indicator on the transmitter wil go out after it has stored the code number. 3. Enter the four-digit identification code by pressing the number keys on the transmitter. Your code can be any four-digit sequence or a combination of numbers between 1 and 8. Press each button slowly and firmly to ensure proper entry. If pressed too rapidly, the code may be entered incorrectly. 4. The STORE indicator will go out. The STORE indicator goes out when the identification code is entered in memory. Example: To input the identification code sequence, 1, 2, 3, 4: If the STORE indicator blinks, press 1-2-3-4. If the STORE indicator does not blink, first press RESET and then press 1-2-3-4. If you made a mistake entering the code or want to change the code, press RESET. The STORE indicator will start blinking which shows the previous code has been cleared from memory. Follow steps 1 through 4 to enter the new code numbers. 5. Apply one of the self-adhesive number labels to each receiver. Be sure the batteries are installed properly and the receiver's power switch is set to READY. 6. Remove the battery compartment cover of the receiver to gain access to the code input jack. 7. Connect the short patch cord (supplied) to the code input jack on the receiver. The CALL indicator will start blinking when the patch cord is connected to the receiver. 8. Connect the other end ofthe patch cord to the CODE OUT jack on the transmitter. 9. Press the STORE button on the transmitter. The STORE indicator will light which shows that the transmitter is ready to transfer the identification code to the receiver.. 10. Press the number button on the transmitter that matches the paging number label you put on the receiver in Step 5. Example: Press number button 1 of the transmitter to transfer the identification code and the paging number to receiver number 1. To assign the number 3 to the receiver: Affix the 3 to the receiver. Connect the patch cord. Press the STORE button. Press the 3 button on the transmitter. Confirm the indicators/beeper operations. The PAGING indicator on the transmitter will blink when the code and the paging number are being sent to the receiver. The STORE indicator on the transmitter will go off to show that the transfer has been completed. The beeper of the receiver will signal four times and the CALL indicator goes off after two blinks to indicate that the receiver has accepted the code and paging number from the transmitter. If these do not take place, repeat the steps above. 11. Remove the patch cord from the transmitter and receiver. Proceed to SYSTEM TEST.
