Universal Garage Remote (610-2107) Operation Faxback Doc. # 31191 OPENING AND CLOSING THE GARAGE DOOR Ensure that the system is properly connected, so the red LED on the receiver blinks once every 5 seconds. To open or close the garage door, push the transmitter's button for 1 second. If it does not respond, you might need to teach the receiver the transmitter's code as described below. Teaching Transmitter Codes/Using More Than One Transmitter The receiver module's code is factory preset to match the supplied transmitter's code. But, you can easily add up to three additional transmitters to your system. If the receiver module does not respond to your transmitter, or if you wish to add additional transmitters, follow these steps to "teach" the receiver the code for each transmitter. 1. Use a pen to push the white button on the side of the receiver's case for 1 second. The red LED on the side flashes 4 times. 2. Within 4 seconds, press and hold the transmitter's button until the red LED on the receiver blinks again. Repeat this step for any other transmitters you want to add. 3. When all the transmitters' codes have been "learned," wait 5 more seconds (until the red LED on the receiver blinks 3 more times) before using the system. Using More Than One Receiver If you have more than one electric garage door, you can use a separate receiver module to control each garage door. You must "teach" each receiver's module the codes for all transmitters you plan to use with that receiver. Programming Additional Remotes 1. Push the white button on the side of the receiver and hold for one second. The red LED on the side flashes four times. 2. Within four seconds, press and hold the trasmit button on one remote until the red LED on the receiver blinks. 3. Immediately after this, push the button on the next remote and hold until the red LED blinks again. 4. Repeat Step 3 for each additional remote for a maximum of four remotes. USING THE SYSTEM AS A GENERAL PURPOSE REMOTE CONTROL To use the system as a general purpose remote control, you must connect an external 12-Volt DC power supply to the 12VDC 50 MA jack on the side of the receiver's case. Then move the slide switch to the AC Adapter position, closest to the jack. CAUTION: Use only an adapter that accepts a 2.1 mm ID and 5.5 mm OD barrel type jack, with its tip set to negative. Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1652 meets these specifications. Using an adapter which does not meet these specifications can result in damage to the adapter or your remote control system. NOTES: The system's gray and black output wires are attached to the common and normally open (N.O.) contacts of a 5-amp relay. The relay contact time is about 0.13 seconds. Maximum voltage through the relay is 38 Volts AC or DC. PROGRAMMING REMOTE 1. Use a pen to press and realease the white button on the side of the receiver's case. The red LED on the side flashes four times. 2. Within four seconds, press and hold the transmitter's button until the red LED blinks again. 3. Repeat these steps for any other transmitters that you want to add. (IR-03/27/96)
