Wireless Alarm System (490-2011) Hints and Tips Faxback Doc. # 32095 Q: When the burglar alarm goes off, does the smoke alarm side of this unit go off too? A: Not necessarily. A fire zone is a single area of coverage protected by a smoke alarm siren detector. When an optional unit is added to the base, the base recognizes the siren detector as a fire zone. Q: What are Terminals 1 and 2 for on the bottom? A: Terminals 1 and 2 are for connecting an external siren to the powered burglar or fire alarm outputs. Terminals BURG 1/2 and FIRE 1/2 do not provide power to the device. They simply turn it on or off. The device connects to the base's dry-contact terminals and it must have a contact switch that causes the device to trigger when the alarm center contact switch closes. (IR-03/05/96)
