Installing the Backup Battery

Your system operates for up to 24 hours from a 9-volt battery (not
supplied) if AC power is disconnected or fails.  Follow these steps to
install a backup battery.

WARNING:  To prevent a possible shock, unplug the system from the phone
          line before you install or replace the battery.

1.  Slide off the battery compartment cover.

2.  Clip the battery contacts into a 9-volt battery and slide the battery
    into the compartment.

3.  Replace the cover.

REPLACING THE PENDANT'S BATTERY

If the pendant's indicator does not light when you press STOP, follow these
steps to replace its battery with one 3V lithium type CR2025 battery (Radio
Shack Cat. No. 23-161).

1.  Remove the two screws securing the pendant's back cover.

2.  Remove the old battery and dispose of it properly.

    WARNING:  Never let children play with button-cell batteries.
              Swallowing a battery could be fatal.

              Never dispose of lithium batteries in fire.  They could
              explode.

3.  Install a new battery, + side up.

4.  Secure the cover with the screws you removed in Step 1.

5.  Set INSTALL/RUN to INSTALL.

6.  Press EMERGENCY CALL and STOP on the console at the same time.

7.  Press EMERGENCY CALL on all pendants to register their codes in the
    system.

8.  Set INSTALL/RUN to RUN.
