INSTALLING YOUR SYSTEM

Installation takes just four easy steps:

  1.  Fully extend the antenna.

  2.  Install a backup battery.

  3.  Connect to the phone line.

  4.  Connect to power.

  5.  Activate the pendant.

After you install the system, call ORCA Monitoring Services to start
service (see "Setting Up Monitored Service", on Faxback Doc. # 32231).

Connecting to the Phone Line

WARNING:  To reduce the risk of a possible electric shock, never plug a
          telephone cord into a telephone line jack until the other end of
          the cord is plugged into the telephone device.

1.  Plug one end of the supplied module telephone cord into the jack on the
    back of the system.

2.  Plug the other end of the cord into a modular telephone jack.

    NOTE:  If you already have a telephone plugged into the jack you want
           to use, unplug its cord and plug in the supplied duplex adapter.
           Then plug both the telephone and the system into the duplex
           jack.

    If your telephone wiring does not have a modular jack, you can:

       Update the wiring yourself.  Radio Shack stores sell adapters to
       convert older wiring methods to modular wiring.

       Have the telephone company update the wiring for you.

       NOTE:  The telephone company charges to install jacks.  The USOC
              number of the jack to be installed is RJ11C.

Connecting to Power

Plug the system's AC power cord into a standard AC outlet, the AC POWER
indicator lights.

Activating the Pendant

Your system accepts commands from up to eight pendants.  Your system comes
with one pendant.  Additional pendants are available by special order from
your local Radio Shack store.  Follow these steps to activate each pendant.

1.  Fully extend the system's antenna.

2.  Set the console's INSTALL/RUN switch (located under the flip-up lid)
    to INSTALL.

3.  Press EMERGENCY CALL on the call pendant.  The call pendant's battery
    indicator lights while you press EMERGENCY CALL, and the console
    sounds a tone.

    NOTE:  If the console does not sound a tone, remove and reinstall
           the pendant's battery.  Then press EMERGENCY CALL.  The
           indicator flashes twice.

4.  Set INSTALL/RUN to RUN.

NOTES:  You can attach a chain or cord to the pendant so you can carry it
        with you whenever you go.

        To clear pendant codes from the console, set INSTALL/RUN to INSTALL
        and press EMERGENCY CALL and STOP on the console at the same time.
        You must reactivate all pendants after doing this.
