Two-Zone Remote Keypad Burglar Alarm Control Center (490-0451) Operation Faxback Doc. # 33424 OPERATING THE SYSTEM NOTE: If you installed one or more Cat. No. 490-0484 remote keypads in the alarm system, also see "Using a 490-0484 Keypad With the Alarm Center" on Faxback Doc. # 33427. ARMING THE SYSTEM To arm the system, use any connected keypad to enter the pass code while the system is disarmed. If you enter the correct pass code and there are no violated or faulted zones, the ARM indicator on the keypad lights, and the alarm system is armed. If you enter the wrong pass code, the system does not arm. NOTES: While entering the pass code, if you enter an incorrect digit before entering the last digit, you can press # to cancel your previous entries, then enter the pass code again. If you enter the wrong pass code three times in a row, the alarm center locks out all connected keypads for 1 minute. This prevents an intruder from easily determining your pass code by trying random combinations. When you use a connected keypad, all other keypads are locked out for 10 seconds after the last keypress. DISARMING THE SYSTEM To disarm the system, use any connected keypad to enter the pass code while the system is armed. If you enter the correct pass code, the ARM indicator on the keypad turns off, and the alarm system is disarmed. If you enter the wrong pass code, the system remains, but gives no indication a wrong code was entered. (The 490-0484 keypad does give an indication when you disarm the system. See "Using a 490-0484 Keypad with the Alarm Center" on Faxback Doc. # 33427). If the alarm system was violated while it was armed and the alarm sounded, the ARM indicators on the keypad and the alarm center flash to show that the alarm had sounded. To stop the ARM indicators from flashing, press #. SOUNDING A PANIC ALARM You can activate the alarm system's panic alarm at any time, even if the system is not armed. To sound a panic alarm, press any installed panic button (if you installed a panic/tamper zone) or press * and # at the same time on any remote keypad (except the 490-0484 keypad, see "Using a 490-0484 keypad with the Alarm Center" on Faxback Doc. # 33427). The alarm sounds and the system automatically arms. LOW POWER MODE If the alarm system is running on battery power, the remote keypad(s) go into a low power mode of operation after 1 minute of no keypresses or change of status such as arming or disarming the alarm system. The alarm system returns to the full power mode when you press a key or the status of the alarm system changes. (SP/EB 5/25/96)
