Two-Zone Remote Keypad Burglar Alarm Control Center (490-0451) Using Keypad Faxback Doc. # 33427 USING A 49-484 KEYPAD WITH THE ALARM CENTER You can use a 49-484 remote keypad with your system. The 49-484 remote keypad provides additional information about the status of your alarm system while you use it. This section details some of the differences you will notice between the two types of keypads. NOTES: The HOME and AWAY keys on the 49-484 keypad have no function when used with this alarm center. The indicators for ZONE 3-7, FIRE, and HOME on the 49-484 keypad have no function when used with this alarm center. When the system is armed, the 49-484 keypad beeps twice. DISARMING THE SYSTEM To disarm the system, enter the current pass code on the keypad. The keypad beeps twice. If you enter an incorrect pass code, the keypad beeps 8 times. CHANGING THE PASS CODE You can arm or disarm the alarm center by using the number keys on the remote keypad to enter a four-digit pass code you choose. The default pass code for the alarm center is 1234. Follow these steps to enter a new pass code. 1. Disarm the alarm system (see "Disarming the System" on Faxback Doc. # 33424). 2. Press PROGRAM on the keypad. PROGRAM slowly flashes. 3. Within 30 seconds, use the keypad to enter the current pass code. PROGRAM stops flashing. 4. Within 30 seconds, use the keypad to enter the new pass code. The alarm center stores the pass code you entered. You can now arm or disarm the alarm center by entering the new pass code. NOTE: If you do not enter the correct pass code within 30 seconds in Steps 3 or 4, the keypad beeps. Simply start again from Step 2. SOUNDING A PANIC ALARM To sound the panic alarm, press both E keys at the same time on the keypad. The alarm sounds and ZONE 8 on the keypad flashes. The alarm system arms automatically. SYSTEM INDICATORS AND FUNCTIONS Checking the Status of the Instant Zone ZONE 1 on the keypad indicates the status of the sensors installed in the Instant Zone. Zone 1 Indicator Meaning Lit Instant Zone sensors are OK. Not Lit Instant Zone has a violated sensor. Flashing One or more sensors in one or more loops has been violated and caused an alarm. Checking the Status of the Delayed Zone ZONE 2 on the keypad indicates the status of the sensors installed in the Delayed Zone. ZONE 2 Indicator Meaning Lit Delayed Zone sensors are OK. Not Lit Delayed Zone has a violated sensor. Flashing One or more sensors in one or more loops has been violated and caused an alarm, or exit or entry delay is counting. Testing the Alarm Siren/Light and Backup Batteries To test the alarm siren and/or light and the backup batteries, disarm the system, then press DELAY on the remote keypad. The alarm siren and/or light activates. LOW POWER MODE If the alarm system is running on battery power, the remote keypad(s) go into a low power mode of operation after 1 minute of no keypresses or change of status, such as arming or disarming the alarm system. During the low power mode, only the ARM and BATT indicators display their status. The alarm system returns to the full power mode when you press a key or the status of the alarm system changes.
