Operating Principle

The Safehouse Quiet Reset Smoke Alarm uses a proven concept, the ionzation
principle, to detect fires in their earliest stages of development.  Air
molecules in the same chamber are ionized to create a small electrical
current flow between two charged plates.  When combustion particles accumu-
late to a preset density in the sample chamber, they cause the current flow
to drop below a critical level to activate the alarm.

Humidity changes can also cause a reduction in current flow. By means of its
dual chamber and unique circuitry, the Safehouse Quiet Reset Smoke alarm
compensates for changes in temperature and humidity to virtually eliminate
nuisance alarms, which can otherwise occur due to normal atmospheric changes
in your home.
