Model 19 (160-0411) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 16544 CHOOSING A LOCATION Choose a location in your home where: Air flows freely on all sides of the Model 19. The power cord is not in the way of normal traffic. NOTE: Do not plug in the AC cord until you have made all connections. CONNECTING THE INDOOR ANTENNA The supplied indoor antenna provides adequate reception in most areas, but for best reception in all areas, use a high-quality outdoor antenna, available at your local Radio Shack store. See "Connecting an Outdoor Antenna." Follow these steps to connect the supplied indoor antenna: 1. Insert the telescoping antenna's post into the socket on top of the TV/VCP's cabinet. 2. Plug the antenna cable into the TV/VCP's ANT IN terminal. 3. Fully extend the antenna and adjust it for the best VHF reception. NOTE: To improve UHF reception, shorten the antenna. CONNECTING THE AC CORD Plug the supplied AC cord's smaller end into the Model 19's AC INPUT connector. Then plug the other end into a standard AC outlet. WARNING: For your protection, the power cord has a polarized plug. To preserve this protection, be sure the blades fit fully and easily into the outlet. If you do not have polarized outlets, have a qualified electrician install one before you use the Model 19. NOTE: To power the Model 19 from your vehicle's battery, see "Using Vehicle Battery Power." INSTALLING THE REMOTE CONTROL'S BATTERIES The remote control requires two AAA batteries (not included) for operation. For best performance, we recommend alkaline batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-555). Follow these steps to install the batteries. 1. Remove the battery compartment cover by pressing the cover in the direction of the arrow. 2. Place two fresh AAA batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked in the compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTE: If the remote control does not work or operates erratically, replace both batteries. CAUTION: Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that can damage electronic circuits. USING THE REMOTE CONTROL To use the remote control, point it at the TV/VCP and press the desired button(s).
