Battery Usage Hints Recording with many starts and stops, frequent zooming, and recording in low temperatures might shorten actual recording times. Be sure to turn the power off when not recording. We recommend you prepare an extra battery so you do not have to interrupt your recording. Do not use an insufficiently charged or discharged battery. Use of such batteries might cause the power to automatically stop during camcorder operation, possibly damaging both the battery and the camcorder. The camcorder consumes a small amount of battery power even when the camcorder's power is off. If you are not going to use the camcorder, remove the battery before storing it. Extending Battery Life Recharge the battery immediately after the recording session is over. Leaving the battery uncharged can irreparably damage the battery, preventing further recharging or use. Recharge the battery again right before recording. A battery stored for an extended time loses some power, resulting in decreased recording time. Recharge the battery at least once every 6 months even when the battery is not used. Store the battery in a dry, cool place. Replacing the Battery While Recording 1. If BATTERY flashes in the viewfinder during recording, press REC START/STOP to stop recording. Then turn off the power. Do not press STOP. 2. Replace the battery with a charged one. 3.
