Model 128 Moviecorder (160-0828) Preparing The Camera FAxback Doc. # 18402 INSTALLING/REPLACING THE CLOCK/CALENDAR BATTERY A CR2025 lithium battery is provided with your camcorder. This battery powers the camcorder's clock/calendar. Follow these steps to install or replace this battery. WARNINGS: Replace the battery only with a lithium-type CR2025 (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-161). Using another battery type might present a risk of fire or explosion. The battery might explode if misused. Do not recharge or disassemble the battery or dispose of it in fire. Keep this battery away from children. If swallowed, a battery could be harmful and even fatal. Consult a physician immediately for emergency treatment. 1. Remove the lithium-battery holder by sliding it in the direction of the arrow. 2. Install a CR2025 lithium battery with the positive side facing down. 3. Replace the holder. NOTES: The battery life is approximately 1 year, but this can vary depending on the temperature and operating conditions. Do not handle this battery with metal tweezers or any other metal object. This could create a short circuit that could shorten the battery's life. The lithium battery might drain quickly if you leave the camcorder's power switch set to CAMERA or VCR without connecting a power source (battery pack, AC Adapter, or vehicle battery adapter). Be sure to set the power switch to OFF when the camcorder is not in use. INSTALLING THE REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY A CR2025 lithium battery is provided with your camcorder to power the remote control. Follow these steps to install or replace this battery. WARNING: Replace the battery only with a lithium-type CR2025 (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-161). Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion. The battery might explode if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, or dispose of the battery in fire. Keep this battery away from children. If swallowed, a battery could be harmful and even fatal. Consult a physician immediately for emergency treatment. 1. Gently pry off the battery compartment lid using a flat-blade screwdriver. 2. Install a CR2025 lithium battery with positive side facing toward the back of the remote control. 3. Replace the lid by sliding it in the direction indicator by the arrow. INSERTING/REMOVING A CASSETTE You can open the cassette compartment to insert/remove a cassette whenever a power source is connected to the camcorder, whether or not the camcorder is turned on. 1. Press EJECT to open the cassette compartment. 2. Insert a VHS cassette into the cassette compartment with the side label facing you and the spine label facing up. CAUTION: Never insert anything except a VHS video cassette into the cassette compartment. 3. Press the PRESS FIRMLY marking on the compartment door until it closes. To remove a cassette, press EJECT, wait for the compartment door to open, and pull out the cassette. CAUTION: Always remove the cassette before storing the camcorder. VIEWFINDER ADJUSTMENT The rotating viewfinder lets you position the eyepiece to the most comfortable position. After you select the best position. adjust the VIEWFINDER FOCUS control for the best viewfinder picture. You can rotate the viewfinder 90 degrees upward and 45 degrees downward to match shooting angles. CAUTION: Do not forcibly slide the viewfinder beyond the click-stops. The viewfinder might detach from the camcorder. Turn the eyepiece counter-clockwise and pull it to detach it. To reattach the eyepiece, align the marks, insert the eyepiece, and turn it clockwise until it clicks into position. NOTES: You must set the power switch to CAMERA before you can see the image through the viewfinder. Return the viewfinder to its original position before you place the camcorder in its carrying case. USING THE CARRYING HANDLE Use the handle to carry the camcorder between shots. When you are shooting or when you are finished recording, fold the handle out of the way. NOTES: Do not swing the camcorder using the carrying handle. Fold the viewfinder up against the camera body while you are carrying around the camcorder. ATTACHING THE SHOULDER STRAP The shoulder strap provides a convenient way to carry the camcorder when it is not in use and is not in the carrying case. You can also use it as a safety strap when you use the camcorder. Attach each end of the strap. NOTES: Use only the supplied shoulder strap with this camcorder. Do not swing the camcorder from the shoulder strap. Replace the lens cap while carrying the camcorder with the shoulder strap. SETTING THE POWER SWITCH Set the switch to CAMERA for video recording and VCR for playback functions. When setting the power switch to CAMERA or VCR, you must press and hold the center button.
