19-Inch Color TV/VCR (160-0418) Special Features Faxback Doc. # 31255 FREEZE FRAME 1. Press PAUSE/STILL on the front panel (or P/STILL on the remote control) to stop the picture during playback. STILL briefly appears on the screen. 2. To continue normal playback, press PLAY. NOTES: This feature works best with tapes recorded at the SP speed. No sound accompanies the picture, which might be unstable or have video "noise" in it. This is normal. If you leave the TV/VCR in the pause/still mode for more than about 5 minutes, the tape stops playing and you see the broadcast TV picture. VISUAL SEARCH Fast Forward While the tape is playing, press FAST F >> to move the tape forward at high speed so you can see the picture and choose where to stop. CUE briefly appears on the screen. Press PLAY to return to normal playback speed. When the tape is not playing, press FAST F >> to wind the tape forward at very high speed without displaying the picture. FF briefly appears on the screen. You can stop the tape at any time by pressing STOP. NOTES: When the tape reaches the end, it automatically stops and rewinds to the beginning. If the tape is in the CUE mode for more than 3 minutes, normal playback automatically starts. Rewind If you press REW << while the tape is playing, you can play the tape backwards to find a particular spot. REVIEW briefly appears on the screen and the tape rewinds at high speed. STOP briefly appears on the screen when the tape reaches the end. When the VCR is stopped, pressing REW << rewinds the tape back at very high speed without displaying the picture. REW briefly appears on the screen. NOTES: If the tape is in the REVIEW mode for more than 3 minutes, normal playback automatically starts. The VCR continues rewinding the tape even if the power is turned off. DISPLAYING THE TAPE COUNTER The tape counter shows the tape time in hours, minutes and seconds during recording and playback. 1. Within 10 seconds, press CHANNEL /\ \/ to select TAPE REMAIN. 3. Press ENTER. The tape remaining time depends on the recording mode (SP or EP) and has some allowance for tape tightness. To reset the counter to 0:00:00, press RESET. The counter display returns to the clock display when the cassette ejects. The real time counter does not operate when nothing is recorded on the tape. USING THE TAPE COUNTER MEMORY The counter memory makes it easy to return to a particular spot on the tape after recording or playback. The tape stops when the counter reaches M 0:00:00. This feature is especially helpful when editing a recording. 1. Press CLOCK COUNT/REMAIN until the counter mode appears. 2. Press ENTER twice. 3. While the tape counter mode is still displayed on the screen, press RESET at the point you want to return to. The counter displays M 0:00:00. 4. Press STOP when you finished recording or playing the tape. 5. Press REW <<. The tape stops at M 0:00:00. 6. Press PLAY to play back the tape. (CS 3/13/96)
