Before operating the TV, make sure that:

    It is connected to an antenna or a cable system.

    It is plugged into a power outlet.

TURNING THE TV ON AND OFF

To turn on the TV, press POWER.

To select the standby mode, press the POWER button on the remote control
while the TV is turned on.  In the standby mode, the VCR can record while
the TV screen is off.

To turn off the TV, press POWER on the front panel again.

SELECTING THE ON-SCREEN LANGUAGE

1.  Press MENU to display the on-screen menu.

2.  Within 10 seconds, press CHANNEL /\ \/ to select LANGUAGE.

3.  Press ENTER to display the LANGUAGE mode.

4.  Press VOLUME </> until the desired language, ENGLISH, FRANCAIS or
    ESPANOL, is displayed.

    NOTE:  Each time you press VOLUME >, the displayed language changes
           in this order.

           --->ENGLISH-->ESPANOL-->FRANCAISE---

5.  Press ENTER.  The on-screen display is presented in the language you
    selected.

SELECTING THE INPUT SIGNAL

1.  Press MENU to display the on-screen menu.

2.  Within 10 seconds, press CHANNEL /\ \/ to select INPUT.

3.  Press ENTER to display the INPUT mode.

4.  Press VOLUME </> until the desired input signal is displayed.

    Note:  Each time you press VOLUME >, the input signal changes in this
    order.  Select AIR for normal TV, CABLE for cable TV, or AV for another
    VCR, a camcorder or a satellite receiver with AV outputs.

5.  Press ENTER to store the selected input signal.

USING AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL CHANNEL PROGRAMMING

When you turn on the TV for the first time, use the automatic channel
programming feature to scan and memorize all active broadcast and cable
channels in your area.  If there are additional channels you want or
channels you do not want, you can manually add or delete them.

Using Automatic Programming

1.  Press TV/AV on the remote control to select the TV mode.  A channel
    number appears on the screen.

2.  Press MENU to display the on-screen menu.

3.  Within 10 seconds, press CHANNEL /\ \/ to select AUTO CH SEARCH.

4.  Press ENTER.  The auto program starts.  The numbers of the channels
    being searched appear on the left lower side of the screen.

NOTE:  To stop auto programming, press ENTER.  Only the channels searched
       up to that time are memorized.

       To memorize CATV channels by auto program, select the CABLE mode
       (see "Selecting the Input Signal," above) and repeat Steps 2-4.

Using Manual Programming

1.  Press TV/AV on the remote control to select the TV mode.  A channel
    number appears on the screen.

2.  Press MENU to display the on-screen menu.

3.  Within 10 seconds, press CHANNEL /\ \/ to select CH ADD/ERASE.

4.  Press ENTER to display the CH ADD/ERASE mode.

5.  Use CHANNEL /\ \/ to select the channel number you want to add or 
    erase. 

6.  Press VOLUME </> to select ADD or ERASE.

7.  Press ENTER.  The selected channel is added or erased.
