SETTING THE CLOCK

Set the clock accurately for proper automatic timer recording. We suggest
that you use a TV or radio station as your time source.

NOTE: For "Setting the Clock" and "Automatic Timer Recording", the
instructions refer to the TV's on-screen display indicators. Some
of the indications on the VCR's display vary slightly.

In the following example, the clock is set to 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

1. Plug the VCR power cord into a standard AC outlet. The display
    flashes --:--.

2. Press [POWER] to turn on the VCR.

3. Turn on your TV and set it to the same channel as the VCR's 3CH/4CH
switch (located on the back of the VCR). Then, press [TV/VCR] on the
remote control unit so that VCR appears on the display.

NOTE: If you use a TV monitor, be sure to set it to the video mode.

4. Press [CLOCK SET]. The day indicator flashes.

5. Press [SET] until the desired day indicator is displayed (WED, for
    example).

6. Press [SELECT]. The hour digits flash.

Then, press [SET] until the desired hour is displayed (PM 5:00, for
    example).

The Model 84 uses an a.m./p.m. clock. Be sure that AM or PM is
    correctly displayed.

7. Press [SELECT]. The minute digits flash.

Then, press [SET] until the desired minute is displayed (PM 5:40, for
    example).

8. Press [CLOCK SET] to start the clock.

Although seconds are not displayed, they begin counting at 00 when you
press [CLOCK SET]. Use this feature to set the clock as accurately as
    possible.

If the display shows an abnormal reading or no reading, unplug the power
cord for about 5 seconds. Then, plug it back in.
