Model 801 (160-0655) Dubbing Faxback Doc. # 31370 Dubbing a Video Cassette Follow these steps to dub (copy) a video cassette. You can use a camcorder, satellite receiver, or other device with A/V outputs in place of the playback VCR. 1. Insert a pre-recorded video cassette into the playback VCR. Use PLAY/FAST-F/REWIND to locate the segment you wish to record, if necessary. 2. Insert a blank video cassette, or one you want to record over, into the recording VCR's Cassette compartment. 3. Set the recording VCR to the A/V mode. If you are using the Model 801 as the recording VCR, press INPUT on the remote control. LINE appears on the VCR's display. 4. Select the desired recording speed on the recording VCR. 5. Start recording on the recording VCR. 6. Begin playback of the tape in the playback VCR. 7. When finished, stop both VCRs. Press INPUT, if necessary, to return to normal TV viewing. NOTE: For best results during dubbing, use the VCR's front panel controls whenever possible. If you use the remote control, hold the remote control close to the VCR remote control receiver window. Otherwise, the remote control of one VCR might affect the operation of the other VCR. Monitoring Dubbing If you are using the Model 801 as the recording VCR, follow these steps to monitor a video cassette tape as you record. 1. Turn on the TV connected to the Model 801 2. Press TV/VCR on the Model 801 so VCR appears on the display. Or, set your TV monitor to the video mode. NOTE: If you set the audio recording mode to DUAL, you can monitor the sound by using the OUTPUT button. (See Audio Line-in Selection). Audio Line-in Selection When you record from another VCR, a laser disk player, or other source connected to the AUDIO/VIDEO IN jacks on the rear panel, you can set the audio recording to STEREO or DUAL. Select DUAL when recording the main signal from the AUDIO IN L and a different SAP signal on the AUDIO IN R jack. For normal use, select STEREO. 1. Press PROG, then 3 to select the MODE SET menu. 2. To toggle between STEREO and DUAL, press 1. When STEREO appears at the right side of the display, the VCR will record stereo audio from both (L and R) AUDIO IN jacks. When DUAL appears at the right side of the display, the VCR will record the audio from the AUDIO IN R jacks separately. - To hear the audio recorded the L jack, press OUTPUT until MAIN displays on the TV screen. - To hear the audio from the R jack, press OUTPUT until SUB displays on the TV screen. - To hear the audio from both AUDIO IN (L and R) jacks, press OUTPUT until MIX displays on the TV screen. Using EDIT This function makes the picture clearer while dubbing. Press EDIT to use the Model 801 as the playback VCR for copying a tape to another VCR. The EDIT indicator on the VCR's front panel lights. When finished recording, press EDIT again to turn off the indicator. (SP/br 3/19/96)
