You can use these buttons to perform identical procedures either on the VCR or the remote control. Please note that some controls are located only on the remote control. Remote Control NOTE: The remote control's special function buttons are shown in italics. Remote Control Buttons that Control a Compatible TV You can program the remote control to control basic functions of up to 30 different compatible TV brands (including RCA, GE, Sony, Magnavox, Zenith, Fisher, Hitachi, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Realistic, and Memorex). However, the remote control does not operate all TVs made by these manufactures. Follow these steps to find out if your TV is compatible with the remote control. 1. Turn on your TV. 2. Point the VCR's remote control towards the front of your TV. 3. Press and hold down TV on the remote control and then press one of the remote control's number buttons. While holding down TV, press each number button until your TV changes channels. When your TV changes channels, your remote control is programmed to control your TV. If your TV does not respond to any TV and number button combination, it is not compatible with the remote control. If your TV is not compatible with the remote control, you must press VCR until VCR appears on the display to control the VCR. NOTES: You might have to reprogram the remote control when you replace its batteries. After you program the VCR's remote control, it controls certain functions of your TV depending on the type of TV. Please note the following exceptions: - On a TV that has a 12-position knob-type channel selector, you can only select the first ten positions (1 through 10). - To turn on compatible RCA or GE TVs, press TV. To turn on a different type of compatible TV (after you program the remote control), press TV, then press POWER. - Not all functions may be available on your TV.
