Model 801 (160-0655) Audio Only Recording Faxback Doc. # 31373 Because the Model 801 offers superior quality hi-fi audio recordings, you might want to use your VCR as an audio-only recorder. To do so, connect the audio outputs from the desired audio source (a tape deck, for example) to the VCR's AUDIO IN jacks. You can also make live recordings by connecting a preamplifier or mixer to the VCR's AUDIO IN jacks. However, do not directly connect a microphone to the VCR. To play back stereo audio, you must connect your VCR to a stereo TV (or amplifier/receiver) using the AUDIO OUT jacks. Follow these steps for audio-only recording. 1. Connect the audio equipment to the VCR. 2. Turn on the audio equipment and prepare it to play. 3. Insert a cassette tape into the VCR with its erase-protection window opened. 4. Select a recording speed - either SP or LP - by pressing T.SPEED on the VCR. The tape speed indicator appears in the VCR's display. NOTE: Select SP to record at a faster speed and get a better picture. Most camcorders record in SP. LP allows more tape recording time. 5. Press INPUT to turn on the LINE indicator in the VCR's display. NOTE: If you want to record audio from a source connected to only one AUDIO IN jack or from two different sources connected to the jacks, set the AUDIO LINE-IN function on the MODE SET menu to DUAL. 6. Start the audio equipment and press RECORD on the VCR. 7. When you are finished, press STOP on the VCR. NOTE: You must disconnect the VCR's VIDEO IN jack before you make an audio only recording.
