If you have followed the instructions in this manual and still have trouble
operating your VCR, refer to the following troubleshooting chart.

Symptom                           Possible Cause/Remedy

No power.                         The power cord is not connected.

                                  POWER is not set to on.

Timer recording is not possible.  The program timer is set incorrectly.

                                  The VCR's power is on.  The VCR's power
                                  must be off.

TV programs cannot be recorded.   The connections are not correctly made.

                                  The band selected is not correct.
                                  Recheck that the band selected matches
                                  your antenna or cable TV.

                                  The VCR is not set to the proper
                                  channel.

Record mode cannot be engaged.    The erase-protection window on the
                                  cassette is closed.

Picture is poor on playback.      The TV channel selector is not set to
                                  the proper channel.

                                  On playback, set the TV channel to the
                                  correct channel (channel 3 or 4).

Video distortion on playback.     The video head is dirty.  Clean the
                                  head.

No picture on playback.           The TV is not set to the proper channel.
                                  Set it to the correct channel
                                  (channel 3 or 4).

                                  Audio/Video connections are incorrect.

Off-the-air TV programs cannot    Connections are not correctly made.
be seen or recorded.

Remote control does not           The remote control's batteries are weak

                                  The remote control is set to the TV
                                  mode.  Press VCR to exit the TV mode.
