Home Satellite TV Antenna (160-2508) Setting The Declination Angle Faxback Doc. # 31424 The declination angle setting is one of several critical alignments on your satellite dish. You must make this setting now because it is extremely hard to make it after you assemble the rest of the dish. 1. At the lower end of the mount, loosen the two nuts that hold the "declination alignment plate" in place. 2. Tilt the mount so that the readings at each end of the declination plate match the declination angle on your alignment data printout. 3. Retighten the two declination plate bolts and confirm that the readings at each end of the plate are still correct. WARNING: Have someone hold the feedboom during the next two steps. If the two gears lost contact with each other, the feedboom and electronics can drop sharply to either side. 4. Slightly loosen, but do not remove, the four nuts/bolts that hold the worm-gear block in place. 5. Push the worm-gear block firmly against the large rack gear, and retighten the four nuts/bolts that hold the worm-gear block in place. NOTE: You must "reseat" the worm-gear block, as described above, after you set the declination angle. The worm-gear block must be aligned straight across. Use a carpenter's level to confirm proper alignment. (CS 3/18/96)
