Home Satellite TV Antenna (160-2508) Features Faxback Doc. # 31427 The Radio Shack Home Satellite TV (HSTV) Antenna is a state-of-art perforated aluminum dish that is designed for optimum performance and appearance. And yet, it is also designed for do-it-yourself installation. Below are a few examples of the high-performance and work-saving features that are standard with your Radio Shack HSTV Antenna. Tripod Base Mount - allows precise leveling of the dish after the foundation is set. It also allows releveling if the the foundation shifts because of poor soil or weathered conditions. Horizon-to-Horizon Dish - lets you precisely aim the dish at any point on Drive a full 180-degree arc. Alignment Data Printout - eliminates any complicated calculations during dish alignment. Simply align the dish using the readings on your personal alignment dish printout, do a little fine tuning, and the dish is ready to go. Pre-Assembled Components - eliminate any highly technical assembly. Ergonometric Engineering - means that the dish is designed from the ground up to be installed by you. This dish has fewer parts for you to assemble than most comparable dishes. Dual-Coax Cable - lets you make system upgrades without having to bury additional cables. IMPORTANT NOTE Although the Radio Shack HSTV Dish is designed for do-it-yourself installation, this installation does require careful preparation and attention to every detail in this manual. We recommend that you read the entire manual before you unpack any of the system boxes or begin any part of the dish installation. Most of the installation can be done by one person. However, many of the steps are easier with two people and a few steps require two people. This manual shows the proper "ground" installation of a complete Radio Shack satellite system. Radio Shack does not recommend mounting the system in any other manner than that described in this manual, unless you seek professional help. Uneven distribution of wind loading caused by improper mounting can cause the dish assembly to damage the mounting structure. If you are using a Radio Shack dish with non-Radio Shack components, the electrical connections and the alignment procedure might be slightly different than those described in this manual. ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES AND TOOLS The Radio Shack HSTV Dish includes everything you need for installation except a few basic tools and the cement necessary for the foundation. Below is a list of the necessary additional items. To prevent problems and make the installation go as smoothly as possible, we suggest that you obtain all these items "before" you begin work. * A Magnetic Compass * Portable TV (Larger is Better) * Carpenter's Level, Tape Measure or Ruler, and Electrical Tape * 2/3 Cubic Yard of Cement (28-30 80lb bags of cement mix) * Tools Necessary to Dig the Foundation Hole (will vary with type of foundation you select - see Faxback Doc. # , "Choosing and Building Your Dish Foundation." * Two 4-foot 2x4 Boards * Socket and Open-End Wrenches in the Following Sizes: 5/16, 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 13/16", 7/8", 3/4", 1 1/8" (or large adjustable wrench) * Large Blade-Type Screwdriver * Torque Wrench * Outdoor Extension Cord * Blanket or Furniture Pad NOTES: In most areas, there are companies that specialize in providing small amounts of pre-mixed cement. You tow a small cement mixer containing the required amount of cement behind your car and you pour all the cement in only a few minutes. This is much easier, and usually no more expensive, than mixing the cement one-bag-at-a- time yourself. A complete list of the contents of each System box is listed below. To avoid confusion and lost parts, leave each part in its original System Box until we call for it during the installation procedure.
