Home Satellite TV Antenna (160-2508) Installing The Motor Faxback Doc. # 31429 The motor that comes with your Radio Shack satellite system is preset to its west limit. Therefore, you must move the dish to its west limit before you attach the motor. Use the information from your alignment data printout and the following procedure to locate your dish's west limit and attach the motor. ATTACHING THE MOTOR 1. Remove the motor mounting bolts from the mounting cylinder. 2. Using the hand crank, move the dish to the west of true south until the inclinometer indicates the look angle for F1 (Satcom 1). NOTE: If F1's look angle is less than 10 degrees, use the look angle for G1. 3. From that point, adjust the dish as follows, depending on what time zone you live in. IN THE EASTERN OR CENTRAL TIME ZONE, move the dish further west by three complete turns of the hand crank. IN THE MOUNTAIN OR PACIFIC TIME ZONE, move the dish further west by five complete turns of the hand crank. 4. Align the cross-pin inside the mounting cylinder with the slot in the motor's drive shaft and push the motor onto the mounting cylinder. 5. Turn the motor so that the holes in the motor align with those in the mounting cylinder. 6. Re-install the two bolts that hold the motor in place and securely tighten them. CONNECTING THE MOTOR WIRES NOTE: For the following connections and for the procedures in see Faxback Doc. # 31430, "Aligning the Dish"), you must temporarily set up your satellite receiver and a TV near the dish. We suggest that you set up a table for the receiver and TV so that you can easily see the inclinometer, but so that the dish will not hit the table as it moves. (The TV should face away from the sun so you can clearly see the picture.) Of course, you also need an outdoor extension cord to provide power for your system. Be sure that the receiver's power cord is unplugged before you connect the motor wires, and be sure to connect the wires in the following sequence: 1. Remove the four bolts that hold the motor's cover in place, and lift off the cover. 2. Route the satellite cable segment that contains the orange, green, brown, and blue wires through the rubber grommet in the side of the motor housing. (See the label inside the motor housing for details on routing the wire through its strain relief clamp.) 3. Connect the wires to the numbered motor terminals as follow, see Faxback Doc. # 31353, "Angle Adjustments/Connections": Green..........................................Terminal 7 Orange.........................................Terminal 5 Brown/Bar......................................Terminal 2 Blue...........................................Terminal 1 4. Place the rubber grommet back into the motor housing's slot and position the wires inside the motor housing so they do not interfere with the motor's moving parts. 5. Replace the motor cover and its four bolts. 6. At the back of the satellite receiver, connect the other ends of the wires as follows: Green....................................WHT/GRN Terminal 7 Orange...................................GRN/WHT Terminal 5 Blue.......................................BLACK Terminal 1 Brown/Bare................................SHIELD Terminal 2 NOTE: There are five screw terminals on the receiver's terminal strip. Do not use the center terminal (marked RED) for the standard Radio Shack system. Now, proceed to Faxback Doc. # 31430,"Aligning the Dish." (CS 3/19/96)
