Long-Range Super Color Special UHF/VHF/FM Antenna with Matching Transformer (150-1720) Assembly Faxback Doc. # 33035 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Before you begin installation, read this manual and the separate Consumer Product Safety Commission information sheet. For your safety and convenience, plan each step of the installation and purchase the necessary hardware in advance. The order in which you perform the steps and the hardware required depends on the mounting and connection methods you choose. WARNING: When you install your antenna, use extreme caution. If the antenna starts to fall, let it go! It could contact overhead power lines. If the antenna touches the power line, contact with the antenna , mast, cable, or guy wires can cause electrocution and death. Call the power company to remove the antenna. DO NOT attempt to remove it yourself. ASSEMBLING THE ANTENNA We recommend that two people assemble the entire antenna on the ground, then mount the assembled antenna on the mast. Follow these steps to assemble the antenna. 1. Use the supplied hardware to assemble the two main boom sections as shown. If necessary, lift one end of the main boom so the crossover wires reach the threaded posts. NOTE: If necessary, move the surrounding elements to permit access to the splint's slot. 2. Snap the supplied plastic wire separator onto the crossover wires. 3. Use the supplied hardware to loosely attach one of the supplied mast clamp assemblies to the main boom as shown. NOTE: If necessary, move the surrounding elements to permit access to the mast clamp. 4. Attach the other mast clamp assembly to the cradle boom facing the same direction as the main boom's mast clamp assembly. Fold out the two sets of metal support straps on the cradle boom and attach them to the corresponding holes on the main boom using the two supplied 1 1/2-inch screws and wing nuts. 5. Press the supplied large end plugs into the ends of the cradle and boom and the main antenna boom. 6. Hold the main boom's elements near the pivot points and pull them until they snap into the self-locking plastic support insulators. CAUTION: Do not pull the elements near their outer ends or you could damage them. Once the elements are locked into the self locking position, do not attempt to unlock them. Doing so might break the self-locking tab. 7. Hold the corner reflector's wing boom elements and turn them until they snap squarely into place. 8. Unfold the wing booms until they snap into place. Secure them with the two 1 1/4-inch screws and small sing nuts as shown. Press the supplied small end plugs into the ends of the wing booms. 9. Pull back the two halves of the UHF Bowtie until they lock into place. Then place the free end of each half of the UHF Bowtie over its lead-in terminal. (LB/EB 5/10/96)
