Model 99 (160-0537) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 7928 REMOTE CONTROL Installing the Remote Control's Batteries The remote control requires two AA batteries (not included) for operation. We recommend alkaline batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552). 1. Remove the battery compartment cover by pressing the cover in the direction of the arrow. 2. Place two fresh AA batteries in the compartment, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside. 3. Replace the cover. NOTE: If the remote control does not work or operates poorly, replace both batteries. CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that can damage electronic circuits. Setting the Remote Control Codes The supplied remote control works with several different brands of TVs and cable (CATV) converters. You can use the multibrand remote to operate basic function of your TV, your cable box, and your VCR. Follow these steps to enter your brand of TV or cable converter. 1. Look at the charts and find your brand and its corresponding code. 2. While holding down TV or CATV on the remote, use the number buttons to enter your brand's code. ┌─────────────────┬────────────┐ │ TV BRAND │ CODE │ ├─────────────────┼────────────┤ │ EMERSON │ 17 │ │ FISHER │ 03 │ │ GE │ 07 │ │ GOLDSTAR │ 01 │ │ HITACHI │ 02 │ │ JVC │ 15 │ │ MAGNAVOX │ 08 │ │ MEMOREX │ 01, 03 │ │ MITSUBISHI │ 14 │ │ PANASONIC │ 12 │ │ RCA │ 06 │ │ SAMSUNG │ 16 │ │ SANYO │ 03 │ │ SHARP 1 │ 00 │ │ SHARP 2 │ 13 │ │ SONY │ 11 │ │ TECHNOL ACE │ 05 │ │ TOSHIBA │ 04 │ │ ZENITH 1 │ 09 │ │ ZENITH 2 │ 10 │ └─────────────────┴────────────┘ ┌──────────────────────────┬─────────────────┐ │ CABLE CONVERTER BRAND │ CODE │ ├──────────────────────────┼─────────────────┤ │ ARCHER │ 00,11,29 │ │ CABLEVIEW │ 00,11,29 │ │ CITIZEN │ 00,11,29 │ │ CURTIS │ 19,25,32 │ │ DIAMOND │ 00,29 │ │ EAGLE │ 14,15,33 │ │ GC BRAND │ 00,11,29 │ │ GEMINI │ 05 │ │ GENERAL ELECTRIC │ 18 │ │ GENERAL INSTRUMENT │ 01,05,09,16,28 │ │ HAMLIN │ 12 │ │ HITACHI │ 13 │ │ JERROLD │ 01,05,09,16,28 │ │ MACOM │ 13 │ │ MAGNAVOX │ 14,33 │ │ MOVIETIME │ 20 │ │ NSC │ 20 │ │ OAK │ 04 │ │ PANASONIC │ 06,08,21 │ │ PHILIPS │ 14,31 │ │ PIONEER │ 06,23 │ │ PULSER │ 00,11,29 │ │ RCA │ 06,08,21 │ │ REGAL │ 12,14,17 │ │ SAMSUNG │ 05,06,11,22 │ │ SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA │ 19,25,32 │ │ SL MARX │ 05,06,11,22 │ │ SPRUCER │ 06,08,21 │ │ STARGATE │00,05,06,11,22,29│ │ TEKNIKA │ 30 │ │ TELECAPTION │ 26 │ │ TELEVIEW │ 05,06,11,22 │ │ TOCOM │ 07,10 │ │ UNIKA │ 00,11,29 │ │ UNIVERSAL │ 24,27 │ │ VIDEO WAY │ 02,03 │ │ VIEWSTAR │ 14,15,33 │ │ ZENITH │ 02,03 │ └──────────────────────────┴─────────────────┘ NOTES: POWER, 0-9, 100/ENTER, INPUT, and CHANNEL/TRACKING \/ or /\ operate the corresponding functions of the selected device. If your TV or cable converter's brand does not appear in the chart, use the original remote control supplied with the TV or converter. You can use TV VOLUME \/ and /\ without selecting TV first. You cannot use the remote control to operate devices that have no remote control feature or that use older ultrasonic remote control methods. If the cable box cannot be operated, try another number in the chart (if applicable). Cable companies may charge an extra monthly fee to activate the remote control feature of a rented CATV converter. When you change the batteries in the remote control, the code settings are lost. You must re-enter them. Using the Remote Control Before operating the remote control, press VCR, TV, or CATV to select the device you want to control. Aim the remote control at the device's infrared window, and press the desired function buttons. (ALL-11/09/94)
