Your Memorex Model 801 8mm Hi-Fi Stereo VCR offers some of the most
advanced features available in home video cassette recorders.  The Model
801 delivers special state-of-the art functions such as automatic tracking,
hi-fi audio recording, and a flying erase head.

Your VCR has digital tuning to ensure extremely accurate tuning of up to 68
VHF and UHF channels and up to 125 cable channels.  The Model 801's full-
function remote control and on-screen programming make the VCR easy to use.

Please read this owner's manual carefully.  It has been prepared to help
you with initial set up procedures and to guide you in the everyday
operation of the Model 801 VCR.

The Model 801 offers these features:

           Hi-Fi Audio Recording - lets you use your VCR to make superior
                                   quality audio recordings with or without
                                   video.

   Multichannel Television Sound - decodes stereo and Special Audio Program
   (MTS)                           (SAP) broadcasts for recording or
                                   listening.

 181-Channel, Digital PLL, Cable - let you select up to 68 VHF or UHF
 Compatible Tuner                  channels (2-69) or up to 125 cable
                                   channels.

 Three Heads for Special Effects - lets you view freeze-frame and slow-
                                   motion frames with less static noise
                                   than normal 2 head VCRs.

               Flying Erase Head - provides exceptionally clean edits
                                   between recorded segments.

          Automatic Tuner Memory - automatically stores all the active
Programming                        channels in your area into memory with
                                   the touch of a button.

             One-Touch Recording - lets you start a recording immediately
                                   which automatically stops recording
                                   after the time length you select.

  1-Year, 8-Event, Digital Timer - lets you program the VCR to make up to
                                   eight unattended recordings within a 1-
                                   year period.  Also makes daily and
                                   weekly recordings.

                 Memory Sentinel - provides 20 minutes of back-up power to
                                   protect clock settings, tuner
                                   programming information, and timer
                                   memory settings.

           On-Screen Programming - provides helpful prompts on the TV
                                   screen for setting the clock, making
                                   automatic timer recordings and using the
                                   special audio mode.

              Automatic Tracking - automatically adjust the tracking for
                                   each tape you play.

       Automatic Playback/Rewind - automatically begins playback when you
                                   load a cassette tape with its erase-
                                   protection window closed, then
                                   automatically stops and rewinds when the
                                   tape reaches the end.

 Real-Time Tape Counter with Memory - displays the actual length of time a
                                      tape plays or records.

       Full-Function Remote Control - gives you complete remote access to
                                      your VCR's features.  If you have a
                                      compatible TV, it can also control
                                      the basic functions of your TV.

Fast-Forward/Rewind with Visual Search

Most material on pre-recorded tapes is copyrighted.  Duplication of
copyrighted material could result in fines and/or imprisonment.

For your permanent records, we recommend you record the serial number of
the VCR in the space below.  The serial number is located on the VCR's
back panel.
